PEMBA TSHERI SHERPA

On August 1 2004, three months after our expedition, the sad news reached us that our sirdar Pemba had died while walking on a trail towards his familyhouse in Karikhola. This was a big shock to us. We have lost a great friend and the mountaineering sport lost a great guide. Pemba climbed Mt. Everest and four times Cho Oyu. During our expedition Pemba was one of the driving forces behind our success. We remember Pemba as a great guy, always in for a joke. Pemba, we are sad that you cannot join us on future expeditions. We will remember you forever. Joost, Greg and Herman
